ZARA
Let's make it easier to find anything in any color, style, collection or price range.
Project:
Zara redesign was a design challenge, to create a UI with certain business and technical constraints. The challenge
required research, Hi-fi mock-up and multi-device explorations.
Duration: 3 Month (October 2019)
Responsibilities: Research (surveys, interviews); UI design; Multi device exploration.
About the Project: The end goal of the project was to encourage consumer to purchase more from Zara online
over a physical store. To achieve this goal, we had to understand what caused the consumer to leave without completing the purchase.
Our target market and end-user is a tech-savvy person, who follows trends on social media and tires to emulate
them. However, they are of a generation short on time and patience and require results promptly. The website
does have features that accommodates those users looking for more detail, requiring a "search bar" feature
or shopping a specific collection.
The user needs to be able to search of the item, seen in store or social media, by gender, type of garment, color
or season/collection without wasting time scroll through a lot of unnecessary items. The changes to the UI of
the website could not interfere with any of the back-end functionality of the website and had to be done in one
day, as to avoid prolonged down-time.
The largest KPI of the website was stated as an increase in consumers choosing online shopping and the
consumer completing purchase activities online than in a brick-and-mortar store, from a variety on sections
within the store. With a multi-platform approach, to encourage online shopping from anywhere.
Results: It is important to revisit your interview notes and compare them to any other method you used to
communicate with the user. I found some of the survey results to be inconsistent with the interview notes, due to
the user not being able to fully explain their point of view in a survey.
More potential user said they would be more inclined to shop at the Zara online store now that they could more
easily navigate to the items they wanted.
